Melinda Ann Hatcher, 78, was taken HOME into GLORY on May 20, 2026. She is now in the presence of her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rejoicing in eternal peace and fellowship with those who had gone on before her — her beloved husband of 59 years, James Everette Hatcher, grandson, Grayson Hatcher, her parents, Viola & Theo Allen, and granny and grandpa, Will and Dolly Kennon.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1pm Friday, May 29, 2026 at Dan View Cemetery in Eden. Pastor Randy Jessup with Ayersville Baptist will be presiding.
Melinda was a loving mother, homemaker and caregiver all her life, and also worked for Morehead Hospital and Fieldcrest Mills back in the 70s and 80s. A faithful woman whose heart was deeply rooted in love, devotion, and the promises of the Word of God.
After her husband James went Home to be with the Lord in January, she missed him every single day. She would place a pillow on his side of the bed just to make it feel as though he were still there beside her, and her family would often speak of the things he said and did, keeping his memory alive in the home they shared together.
Melinda leaves behind her sons, Jerry (Keli) and Stephen Hatcher, Grandson Logan Hatcher, Granddaughters, Amy Loving and Jessica Hatcher, and Great-Grandson Jacob Loving and Great-Granddaughter Naomi Loving, sisters, Deborah Pulliam, Laverne "Bunny" Coleman, Tammy Church, and Lori Moore, aunts, Evon Pierce and Veronica "Punk" Duck, cousin, Diane Kennon Guest, lifetime friend, Susanne Clifton, and her devoted chihuahua, Tiki, who's been by her side for 13+ years.
Though our hearts are saddened by her absence here, we do not sorrow as those who have no hope. We rejoice in the blessed assurance that Melinda is now with The Lord Jesus Christ, completely free from all pain, suffering, weakness, and the burdens of this temporal life.
“Hallelujah” is all that can truly be said.
Happy Homecoming with Jesus; we'll see you soon!
