Melinda Sheckells Cardenas

Melinda Joyce Sheckles Cardenas, 61 of Sandy Ridge, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.

Melinda was born January 10, 1964 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Bobby Sheckells and Doritha Medford Sheckells. She worked as a CNA and caregiver at Brian Center Health and Rehab. Melinda loved to travel. She loved horses and dogs. She loved sports cars, especially convertibles. Melinda enjoyed life and was loved by everyone.

Surviving are her husband, Miguel Cardenas; sister, Sharon Sheckells; cousin, Sophia Huguenin; niece, Chassity Copeland; nephew, Noah Dorsett; beloved dogs, Spot, Shorty, Monkey, Gracie.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Sheckells, Todd Dorsett, Keith Sheckells, and the mother that raised her, Camilla Sheckells.
