Melinda Sheckles Cardenas

Melinda Joyce Sheckles Cardenas, 61 of Sandy Ridge, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.

Melinda was born January 10, 1964, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Bobby Sheckles and Doretha Medford Sheckles. She worked as a CNA and caregiver at Brian Center Health and Rehab. Melinda loved to travel. She loved horses and dogs. She loved sports cars, especially convertibles. Melinda enjoyed life and was loved by everyone.

Surviving are her husband, Miguel Cardenas; sister, Sharon Sheckles; cousin, Sophia Huguenin; niece, Chassity Copeland; nephew, Noah Dorsett; niece, Shannon Carneal; and beloved dogs, Spot, Shorty, Monkey, Gracie.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Sheckles, Todd Dorsett, Keith Sheckles, and her mother, who raised her, Camilla Sheckles.
