Maybell Wilson Prewette, beloved Mother and Granny, 91, of Eden passed away suddenly on Friday, December 23, 2022.
Family and friends are invited to honor her life at a graveside service held at 2pm Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, NC. There will be no visitation.
Maybell was born June 7, 1931 to the late Willie and Gracie Wilson. She spent all of her life in the Ruffin and Eden area. On July 18, 1948, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Henry Prewette. They enjoyed 56 years together and were rarely apart. William preceded Maybell in death in 2004.
Maybell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved life. She enjoyed cooking her family’s favorite dishes, especially banana pudding which quickly became known as the best around. Maybell enjoyed playing cards and games with her family, but she especially enjoyed dancing with Bill. She loved laughing, country music, dancing, and beautiful flowers.
On April 21st, 1963, Maybell was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed sharing her faith as part of the Eden congregation right up until the last week of her life, even as she found it increasingly difficult to leave home.
Maybell loved her family and will be greatly missed by her four children, Nancy Newnam (David) of Greensboro, Daniel “Trigger” Prewette (Deirdre) of Reidsville, Mark Prewette (Wendy), and Penny Ashby (Tony). She was “Granny” to eight grandchildren, Aric Ashby, Paige Springle, Brandon Prewette, Malia Hall, Ryan Newnam, Grant Prewette, Matthew Prewette, and Tyler Prewette. She was especially proud to have twelve great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Isabella, Maddie, Xyla, Ayden, Austin, Logan, Dakota, Hallie, Allison, Marissa, and Carter. She is also survived by her sister, Virgie Ross (Thomas); sister-in-law, Reba; brother-in-law, Buck; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Maybell was preceded in death by her beloved Bill; sisters, Ruby and Eunice; brother, Penn.
The family would like to thank all the neighbors and friends who assisted Maybell over the years of her widowhood which allowed her to remain in the home she loved.
