Maureen Ruffin Craig

Maureen Ruffin Craig, 83 of Eden, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Overlook Cemetery in Eden.

Maureen was born May 11, 1942, in Elm City, North Carolina, to the late Robert Morris Ruffin and Alice Irene Speight Ruffin. She was a member of Kingdom Point Church of God in Ridgeway, Virginia. She worked at Media General Newspapers as an Advertising Director until her retirement. Maureen was devoted to her family all her life and loved spending time with them. She loved to read and color.

Surviving are her children, Kim Cruise (Jon), Michael Hedgepeth, Cassandra Sexton, Beth Hedgepeth; sister, Teresa Ruffin; sister-in-law, Delores West; daughter-in-law, Esther Hedgepeth; grandchildren, Phillip James Hedgepeth, David Hedgepeth (Dawn), Daniel Hedgepeth, Gabriel Hedgepeth (Asenath), Joshua Ziglar, Joshua Hopkins (Brandy), Jacob Hopkins (Amy), Courtney Bibee (Josh), Jamie Dickerson, Gage Mabes; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved fur-baby, Carlie Jo.

In addition to her parents, Maureen is preceded in death by two husbands, Phillip Arlen Hedgepeth, Sr. (the father of her children), and Don Craig; son, Phillip Arlen Hedgepeth, Jr.; siblings, Robert Ruffin, Shirley Ricks, Stanley Ruffin, and Terry Ruffin.
