Mary Magdelene McCoy

Mary Magdelene McCoy, of Eden, passed away peacefully, Saturday December 6th, surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at Fair Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday December 10th at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem, NC. There will be no formal visitation.

Mary was born April 12, 1934, in Granville, NC, to the late Joe and Phoebe Solomon. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Pilgrim Psychiatric Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Brentwood, NY. Mary was head usher in church ministry for more than 50 years. Mary enjoyed reading and working puzzles and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, William McCoy (Barbara) and Michael McCoy, Sr. (Angelica); grandchildren, Maurice, Kirk, Jr., Hope, Jasmine, Xoshelle, Tiffany, Latoya, and Michael, Jr.; brother, Joe Solomon (Mae); along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Richard McCoy; sisters, Jennie Faines, Mattie Brown; son, Kirk McCoy, Sr.; grandchildren, Ruby, Desiree, and Shedrick.
