Mary Lea Hawkins Land

Mary Lea Hawkins Land, 84 of Stoneville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mary Lea was born March 19, 1942, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late George Avery “G.A.” Hawkins and Myrtle Gay Harris Hawkins. She worked as a Manager of Woven CAD at Fieldcrest Cannon until her retirement. She was an avid yard-worker, enjoying gardening and mowing. Mary Lea also loved crafts, sewing, and decorating. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her loving husband, Gordon “Tommy” Thomas Land; sister, Beulah Hawkins Hudson (Tom); special niece, Gail Lewis, who was more like a sister to Mary Lea; nieces, Suzy Gilley (Jimmy), Joan Tucker, Linda Jeffries (Randy), Cherie Pyrtle, Alice Price (Eddie), Lou Ann Smith; nephews, Mike Pyrtle (Sherry), Scott Hudson (Julie), and Glen Hawkins.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lea is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lori Michelle Land Ford; brothers, Willard Hawkins, Warren “Buddy” Hawkins; William “Billy” Hawkins; sisters, Lois Hawkins Gehring, Ruth “Sis” Hawkins Jarrett, Shirley Hawkins Pyrtle, Mattie Hawkins Brian, and Sunshine “Inky” Hawkins Bishopric; nephew, Leonard Hawkins.
