Mary Kallam Turner

Mary Kallam Turner, 94, of Ridgeway, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 2pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.

My precious, sweet mother, Mary Ruth Kallam Turner, passed away on Wednesday, December 14 at the age of 94. Mother, Mary Ruth, is survived by her daughter, Linda Turner Smith, her brother, Herman Kallam and her niece, Sharon Purcell Hedrick (Mike). She was formerly married to Eldridge Turner who is deceased. She lived most of her life in Eden. She spent 14 years with me, her daughter, in Atlanta. Most recently, she and I have resided with her brother in Ridgeway. Mother was loved by her family, friends and church community. She had an incredibly strong work ethic. This was evidenced by her 35 plus years at DuPont where she retired and her subsequent years at a Dupont subsidiary. Mother’s true legacy was her incredible love and support for me. She dedicated every moment of her life to me. She was an extraordinary mother. My comfort resides in knowing I will be with her again in Heaven. ~ Linda

Mary was born May 24, 1928, in Henry County, VA, to the late Daniel Otis Kallam and Ollie Watkins Kallam.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Otis M. Kallam.
