Mary "Joan" Johnson Washburn

Mary “Joan” Johnson Washburn, age 69, of 1220 Virginia Street went home early Sunday morning, March 24, 2019 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center of Eden.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joan will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lem Hardison officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (5 -6pm) at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home of the daughter, Candice Bailey; 120 Mountain Laurel Trail in Eden.

Joan was born in Eden, North Carolina on November 19, 1948 to the late George Burton “G.B.” Johnson and Mary “Lucy” Nelson Johnson.  She was of the Baptist faith.  For all that knew her, Joan was the “Life of the party”, who never met a stranger and was deeply loved and cherished by all that knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 37 years, Malcom Washburn of the home; her one and only daughter, Candice Bailey and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Holden, Garret, Camden, Sam(Emily), Levi (Emily) and Austin; two brothers, Burton Johnson (Kathy) of Eden and William Johnson (Sandy) of Reidsville.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Brian Center Health and Rehab. Center; 226 Oakland Ave. Eden, NC 27288.
