Mary Elizabeth Reinard

Mary Elizabeth Reinard, 87, formerly of Eden but most recently of 5215 Creedmoor Road in Raleigh, passed away Thursday morning, February 3, 2011 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 8, at St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church in Eden. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Reinard was born June 22, 1923 in Ironwood, Michigan, daughter of the late Barney and Kathryn Whalen Doherty. She was a US Marines veteran. Mrs. Reinard lived in Eden for 31 years and was an active member of St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church during that time. In 2007 she moved to Raleigh due to health concerns and resided at Magnolia Glen Retirement Community. During her residency in the Raleigh area she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Surviving are her five daughters, Shirley Starr of Fayetteville, Diane Long of Aurora, Colorado, Marsha Jacobs of Fayetteville, Pamela Chang of Youngsville, and Stephanie Smith of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Cuseo of Melbourne, Florida. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Richard Reinard; and grandson, Shane Peoples. Visitation will be held Monday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Ojeda, nurses and staff at Rex Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during their mother's final days.
