Mary Adkins

Mary Adkins, 74 of Stuart, Va. passed away at her home via hospice on Saturday January 17th, 2026. 

There will be no service at this time, a celebration of life will be held in the springtime. 

She was born on February 04, 1951 to the late Edna Adkins of Eden NC. She is preceded in death by her son Wayne Adkins, grandson Austin Adkins, brother Oral Adkins, brother Harold Adkins and wife Barbara Adkins, sister Betty Joyce and husband Larry Joyce, her ex-husband Larry Meeks, stepson Dewayne Meeks, and her life partner, William “Bill” Ragsdale. 

She is survived by her son Terry Adkins, brother Jim Harrington with wife Barbara, sister Virginia Murray, stepson Ronald Meeks and stepdaughter Jennifer Carter, daughter-in-law Amy Adkins with husband Donnie and daughter Katelyn, grandchildren Gregory Adkins, Christopher Adkins, Zander Adkins, Brittany Jurek, Whitney Underwood, Darren Meeks, and Hunter Meeks.

She enjoyed babysitting in her early years, worked for Fieldcrest Mills, Bassett Walker, Tender Age Learning Center, and the restaurant industry. She found comfort passing time doing cross stitching, watching soap operas and calling her female companions to discuss “what just happened”, watching and feeding the birds, hummingbirds, and squirrels. She liked playing card games, board games, and various games online with family and friends from afar. She loved her family tremendously, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life, her dog Cece became her companion and kept her active. She also had a green thumb and grew an abundance of house plants and flowers.
