Marilyn Leigh Smith, 64, of 206 N. Henry Street in Stoneville passed away Sunday evening, November 13, 2016, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 17, at First Baptist Church of Stoneville. Burial will follow in Stoneville City Cemetery.
Marilyn was born October 18, 1952 in Leaksville, NC to Louise Bloodworth Smith and the late Thomas Jackson Smith. Upon graduation from Stoneville High School, Miss Smith completed two years at Rockingham Community College and received additional training at the Institute of Government in Chapel Hill. She served as town clerk for the Town of Stoneville for 28 years. Additional employment included Time Warner, Victory Chevrolet and Stoneville Furniture. She loved God and her church where she served as a deacon, church clerk, and helped with a youth Sunday School Class. Marilyn also served as secretary-treasurer for the local Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by her mother, Louise Smith; aunt and uncle, Truette and Mozelle Parleir; cousins, Mike Parleir and Wayne Parleir (Liz); and additional family and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at First Baptist Church of Stoneville and other times at the residence.
