Marie Mabes Stevens

Marie “Ree” Mabes Stevens, 99, of Lexington, formerly of Eden, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Pine Acres Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lexington, NC.

There will be no formal service at this time.

Ree was born April 19, 1924, in Bassett, Virginia, to the late Thomas Jefferson Mabes and Maybud Isley Mabes. She worked at Fieldcrest-Cannon as a weaver until her retirement. Ree was a member of the Friends Club and loved Chaney’s Restaurant in Eden.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters, Tory Stevens Howell of Lexington, Karen Stevens Joseph of Eden; great-grandchildren, Kendall Howell O’Grady (Michael) of Charlotte, Logan Gray Howell of Charlotte, Shannon Wright (Allan) of Eden, great grandson, Zack Joseph; great-great-grandchild, Aurora Wright.

In addition to her parents, Ree was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stevens, and son, Ronald Stevens.
