Margie was born in Leaksville (Eden), NC in 1938 to parents Hattie Cook Heffinger and Andrew Thomas Heffinger.
After high school at Stoneville High, Margie worked at E.I. Dupont in Martinsville, VA as a textile inspector. She attended Rockingham Community College and worked as a substitute teacher for Stoneville schools.

She and her husband of 38 years, Garfield (Scoop) Adkins enjoyed traveling and taking cruises around the Caribbean. When Scoop passed away suddenly, she continued to participate with the group for support. There she connected with Francis (Frank) Rogue, a friend and former USS Oberon veteran of the Korean war. She found love again with him and they married.
Frank introduced Margie to ham radio. She became a member of the Rockingham County Amateur Radio Club with operator call sign KI4PRU and enjoyed the interaction both locally and with people from all parts of the world.
Margie was a member of First Baptist Church in Stoneville and loved singing in the choir. In recent years, she was unable to attend church and missed her church family and friends.
