Margaret “Peggy” Dyer, 89, of Eden, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 5th, at 2:00pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 12:30pm-2:00pm and burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Peggy was born May 22, 1932 in West Palm Beach, FL to the late Dan and Margaret Lyle Johnson. In 1952 she met the love of her life, a US Marine recruiter, Ike Dyer. Peggy loved her LORD, her husband and her family. She was the perfect example of a devoted Marine Corp wife. Moving often without complaint; Peggy starched and ironed uniforms, and was mom and dad when Ike was deployed. She retired from Fieldcrest when Ike’s health declined due to leukemia; she was a loving and devoted caregiver until his death in 2000.
Mrs. Dyer is survived by her two daughters; Debbie Overby (Joe) of Salisbury, NC, Sally Cody (Mark) of Eden. grandchildren; Daniel(Brandi) Overby, Jon-Marc Overby, Kary Evans, Ashley (Chuck) Smith, Margaret (Matt) Lemons, Justin (Brooke) Mize; great-grandchildren; Tanner Brown (Meghan Willard), Aubree and Landon Lemons, Ella Evans, Ethan and Coen Overby, Norah, Solomon, Gwyneth and Gideon Mize; inlaws; Jack and Tess Dyer, Jean Nelson, Addie Barker, Watt and Jeanette Dyer, Rufus Dyer.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Winfred “Ike” Randall Dyer, brothers; Dan Johnson and Jim Johnson.
The family would like to thank Kim Carty for her love and care of “Lil Nana”
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to charities close to her heart which were the Eden Salvation Army and the Leukemia Research at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
