Margaret Ellington Joyce, 87, of 208 West Main Street, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 15, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, September 18 at Stoneville City Cemetery. Mrs. Joyce was born January 10, 1924, daughter of the late James Philmore and Betty Cox Ellington in Guilford County, NC. She worked in textiles most of her life. Surviving are her son, Mike Joyce and wife, Beverline of Eden; daughters, Glynda Shelton and Annette Joyce, both of Stoneville; brothers, Roy Ellington and Gary Wayne Ellington of Stoneville; sisters, Lena Dodson and Pat Taylor of Stoneville and Betty Jo Patterson of Martinsville, VA; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Joyce, Sr.; son, John Lewis Joyce, Jr.; and four brothers, James Philmore Ellington, Jr., Thomas Jack Ellington, Albert Ellington and Vernon Ellington. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Dee Ann Smith, 230 Spencer Road in Stoneville.
