Mae Rose Price Hawks, 90, of 131 N. Hamilton Street, passed away Tuesday morning, December 7, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hosptial. A funeral service will be held 2 PM on Friday, December 10, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sue Anne Morris, of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery in Eden. Born November 4, 1920 in Leaksville, NC, Mrs. Hawks was the daughter of the late Jesse L. and Hazel Dean Price. She was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills after 47 years of service. Mrs. Hawks was a member of First United Methodist Church of Eden. Before she lost her vision she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and cooking for her family. One of her favorite trips was with her friends, Joyce, Joy, and Margaret. Surviving are her two daughters, Peggy Squires and husband, Ken, and Jane Fletcher and husband, Johnny, both of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Michael Squires of Rock Hill, SC, Terry Ray Carter of Cincinnati, OH, and Laura Jane Ferdna and husband, John of Greensboro; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Nadine Lawson, Ellie Harbour, Loretta Manuel and husband, Charlie, Abbie Dean Young, and Betty Lou Adkins; four brothers, Brenton Price and wife, Della Mae, Nolan Price and wife, Madeline, Billy Price and wife, Nancy, and Morris Price and wife, Debra; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elmer Hawks; three brothers, Arnold, Lawrence, and Jimmy Price; and sister, Vivian Fulcher. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the residence.
