Lucinda Leffew Sumner

Lucinda Leffew Sumner, 102, passed away on Friday, April 18th at Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville, NC.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 26th at 11:00am in the Woodlawn Cemetery located on Bryant Street in Eden, NC. The family will receive visitors at the graveside from 10:30 - 11:00am.

Lucinda was born in Rockingham County on November 6, 1922 to the late Homer Richard Leffew and Annie Hodges Leffew. She worked in the General Office of Fieldcrest Mills as Service Department Manager until her retirement. She was also a life time member of Spray Baptist Church in Eden, N.C.

Lucinda will be remembered by her daughter, Brenda Martin Denney, (Reggie) of Eden; son, Albert B. Sumner, Jr. of Carthage, NC; grandchildren, Chuck Denney (Kristin) of New London, NC, Diana Ferderer, (Mark), of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Mariah Sumner of Alexandria, VA and Caleb Sumner of Vale, CO; great-grandchildren, Zachary Ferderer of Racine, WI, Ensign Andrew Ferderer, US Coast Guard of Key West, FL; sister, Earline Law of Eden, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, family and caregiver, Iona Scales. Also, longtime friend Commander Conrad “Gus” Shinn of Charlotte, NC.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. Sumner, Sr.; brothers Bill, Milton and Malcom Leffew.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Ancora Compassionate Care, 2150 NC 65 Reidsville, NC 27320.
