Louis Junior Shaffer, 86, of 1212 Washington Street in Eden, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 5, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Shaffer was born May 15, 1926 in Sandy Ridge, NC, son of the late Edgar and Eliza Mae Joyce Shaffer. He was a very active member of his church, Central Baptist Church. Mr. Shaffer was known at the Eden Flea Market as "the wood man". He was a self-employed truck driver and at one point drove for Southern Finishing Company in Stoneville.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Caviness and husband, Bob of Winston-Salem; step-son, Ed Brown and wife, Kathy of Stoneville; five grandchildren, Tesha Caviness, Nick Caviness, Rachel Brown, Rebecca Brown and Nathan Brown; two great-grandchildren, Elise and Maci Caviness; sisters, Lucy McClamrock of Winston-Salem, Becky Powell and husband, Junior of Greensboro, Fran Collins and husband, Harvey of Pfafftown and Jewel Priddy of Stoneville; brothers, Ray Shaffer and wife, Ruth of Sandy Ridge and Roy Lee Shaffer of Collinsville, VA; and sisters-in-law, Marion Biggs and husband, Harvey, Jr and Elaine Shaffer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Frazier Shaffer.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
