Linda Sue Bray

September 25, 1946 — July 31, 2025

Linda Sue Taylor Bray, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 31st, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Eden, North Carolina.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at 2:00 PM at Promise Baptist Church, located at 1455 Worsham Mill Road, Ruffin, NC—a place she loved dearly and served faithfully. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, August 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Linda was born on September 25, 1946, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Lemuel and Virginia Taylor. A woman of deep faith and unwavering devotion, Linda was a perfect example of a loving Christian wife, mother, and friend. For 53 years, she stood faithfully by her husband’s side as a pastor’s wife, sharing in ministry, serving the church family, and blessing countless lives with her hospitality, encouragement, and grace.

Linda had the heart of a servant. She opened her home not only to her own children but also as a foster mother, giving love and care to many in need. Her home was a place of warmth, filled with the smell of home-cooked meals and her famously delicious desserts. She was a wonderful homemaker, but even more, she was the heart and queen of her family—always putting others first, always ready with a kind word, and always wearing a smile that could brighten the darkest day.

With a sharp wit and a joyful spirit, Linda could make anyone laugh and feel at ease. Her presence brought comfort, her faith inspired many, and her love was constant and true. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering devotion—to her family, to her church, and to her Lord.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, David Bray; her sons, David Bray, Jr. (Val), Darin Bray (Kristi), Daniel Bray (Crystal), Douglas Bray (Faye), and her adopted son Donny Bray. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her sister Nancy Matherly, and her brothers David Taylor and John Taylor.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her precious daughter, Julie Virginia Bray, whom she has longed to see and hold. What a joyful reunion it must be.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in Heaven. We will miss her dearly—her laugh, her stories, her strength, and her unwavering faith—but we rejoice in knowing that we will see her again.

Linda’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all who knew her. She was truly a great woman of God, and her light will never be forgotten. Until we meet again!
