Lillie Marie Rutledge Purdy

Lillie Marie Rutledge Purdy, age 87 of Eden, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at UNC Rockingham Health and Rehab.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon  Monday at Central Christian Church with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service from 11 – 12.  Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Purdy was born September 13, 1932 in Amelia County, Virginia to the late James Edward Rutledge and Naomi Bennett Rutledge.  She was graduate of Tri-City High School Class of 1952 and retired from J.A. Cannady Lumber Company. Lillie was a member of Central Christian Church.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were, husband Wallace Andrew Purdy; brothers, James Herbert Rutledge and Wilbur Rutledge; sisters, Margaret Reeves, Anna Robertson, Eunice Smith and Doris Spain.

Surviving her is her son, James Wallace Purdy and wife Kathy of Eden; daughter, Debbie Sue Purdy of Eden; grandchildren, Kristopher Purdy of Cary, NC and Crystal Lynn Dishmon of Nashville, Tn.
