Leon Howell, 75 of Eden passed away Monday, July 5 at Kate P. Reynolds Hospice Home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Family will receive friends at 211 N. Kennedy Avenue in Eden, on Saturday, July 10 from 12 noon until 5:00.
Leon was born on December 21, 1945 to the late Cecil and Elaine Gilley Howell. He was a 1966 graduate of Morehead High School. He enjoyed music, NASCAR, and Duke basketball. He retired from Flowers Baking Company as route sales after 40 years and later retired from Friends Homes in Greensboro.
Leon is survived by his wife Susan of the home. He is also survived by his son, Shannon (Kristine) of Winston Salem, sister Gloria (Boyd) Adkins of Burlington, brother Kenneth (Susan) Howell of Eden, brother-in-law, Sherman (Margaret) DeHart of Eden; sister-in-law, Dixie Haney of Martinsville; sister-in-law, Sandra Rorrer of Ridgeway VA; sister-in-law , Carol Sturgill of Eden; special cousin, W. J. (Cindy) Mounce of Raleigh; Best Friends Sonny and Brenda Wilson of Eden, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbors and his furry friend “Miles”.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dewey DeHart and mother in law, Eloys Washburn DeHart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockingham County Humane Society.
