Lawrence Powell Doyle

Lawrence “Larry” Powell Doyle, 76, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at Caswell House in Yanceyville, NC.

Larry was born on October 12, 1949, in Winston Salem, NC to Mary Emmaline Cox and Joseph Pete Doyle, he was raised in multiple places due to his father being in the Navy. He lived in Japan and California most of his childhood but teenage years he lived in Eden, NC. Larry had one sibling, older, Joe Pete Doyle.

Parents owned restaurant called Jose’s, so he spent many afternoons after school helping his parents out at the restaurant.

After high school, Larry attempted to go to college at RCC but was drafted into the military. Larry served 5 years in the Navy. Once retired from the navy, he was an automation engineer until he retired 2017.

Larry enjoyed the great outdoors, playing and working on computers, sailing on his sailboat, and spending time with family and friends. During his retirement he loved spending the weekends at the coast working on either of his two boats or just spending time by the ocean. He enjoyed riding his bike around the town of Reidsville. He loved spending time with friends, trying new restaurants or going to the book store or cooking stores. He definitely enjoyed spending his days with his grandchildren.

Larry loved to socialize. He was one that could talk to anyone who said hey to him. He could talk for hours with anyone as if he knew them for years and years.

Larry was a loving man who would go above and beyond for anyone who needed it! For example, his adoptive daughter, Kaitlyn Pettigrew, when her mother passed away, he stepped in and became her father without hesitation and has been there for her til the day he passed.

Larry is survived by his ex wife, Terri ; his children, Sydnie Strader, Kaitlyn Pettigrew and Thomas Doyle; his grandchildren, Kyler, Greyson, Wyatt, Damon, Aidan, and Cyrus; many cousins and nieces/nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph “Jose” Doyle, and his brother Joe Pete Doyle, and some cousins.

Memorial services will be held September 12th 3-5pm at Fair Funeral Home, to whoever would like to pay respects to family or share memories of Larry. Any floral arrangements can be sent to Fair Funeral Home.
