Lawrence Gordon Adams

Lawrence Gordon Adams, 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, March 20th at his residence in Rockingham Co.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 24th at 1:00pm in the Floyd Missionary Baptist Church on 3652 Price Road, Eden, NC. Mr. Adams will lie- in- repose at the church from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday. Burial will follow at the Floyd Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rockingham County Honor Guard will be performing Military Honors.

Lawrence was born January 7, 1935 to the late Herbert Monroe Adams and Lela Cox Adams in Alamance Co. He attended Floyd Missionary Baptist where he was a long time member. He served as a Trustee of the church along with other committees. Lawrence was a US Army Veteran. He worked as a Packaging Operator at Miller Brewing Co. where he retired. He was a fan of Duke Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved traveling to the mountains and especially enjoyed traveling to Gettysburg, PA and the Natural Bridge in VA. Lawrence loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them especially at Christmas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, June Robertson Adams, two sons, James "Jay" G. Adams (Teresa) of Pine Hall, Mark A. Adams (Amy) of Oak Ridge, NC; daughter Angela A. Collins (Michael) of Eden, NC.; nine grandchildren, Ellie, Katie, Max, Michaella, Sarah, Seth, Colin, Ethan, and Anna Claire; six great-grandchildren; Tucker, Tanner, Tate, Cali, Gage and Wes.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers; Thomas Adams, Bill Adams, Connie Mack Adams, Pete Adams, Kenneth Adams; sisters, Judy Murray, Doris Tucker, Betty Jones.
