Lavonne Massey Hunter

Lavonne Massey Hunter, 80, of Eden passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at UNC Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing in Eden.

A memorial service will be held 11am, Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at Church of the Epiphany in Eden. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10-11am, in Moncure Hall at Church of the Epiphany.

Lavonne was born May 6, 1942, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Elbert Massey and Leota Wakeland Massey. She was a member of Church of the Epiphany in Eden. Lavonne worked as a Product Design Specialist in Blanket Finishing at Fieldcrest Mills until her retirement after more than 30 years of service. Following retirement, she worked part-time at Gene Ward Ins., Zanetti Ins. Co. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Ernie Hunter of the home; daughter, Pamela Hunnings (Giles) of Eden; granddaughter, Whitney Curtis (Ben) of Eden; great-grandsons, Mason Curtis and Connor Curtis.

In addition to her parents, Lavonne is preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Massey Davis and her husband, Sergeant Major Gene Davis.
