Laura Mae Hand Massey

Laura Mae Hand Massey, age 86, passed away peacefully early Friday morning on May 27 2022 at UNC Rockingham Health Care.

A graveside funeral will be Wednesday, June 1 2022 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Charlie Carter officiating the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31 at the residence and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service from 11:00 – 11:45 at Fair Funeral Home before proceeding for the cemetery and also following the service at the residence.

Mrs. Massey was born on September 12 1935 in Leaksville, NC to the late Charles Forest and Lillie Mae Jefferson Hand. She married the love of her life Blane Massey on August 14, 1954. She worked for Fieldcrest in Eden NC as a bedsheet inspector and later retired from Tultex in Mayodan NC as an inspector. She loved to see the ocean and to be outside and to garden. Laura enjoyed being with her family but Kameron, Lauren, Kelly, Travis, Harley, Wesley, Peyton and baby Presley held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her four children, daughters Wanda Messer and husband Gordon of Sanford NC, Kay Vaden and husband Lee of Mayodan NC, Lisa Blake and life partner Mike Chrzanowski of Durham NC and son Michael Massey and wife Kate of Cary NC, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law Tony Boulding of Eden and sister-in-law Diane Hand of Eden, nieces Shelia Hand and Cindy Dixon and nephew Bobby Hand and an special family friend Linda Priddy O’Neal all from Eden NC.

She is preceded in death along with her beloved husband Blane Massey, both her parents and her sister Martha Boulding and her brothers David, Clifton and recently LeRoy Hand all of Eden NC.
