Laura Kallam Mayes

Laura Kallam Mayes, 75, of Eden passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at her home.

A gathering celebrating the life of Laura will be held at 1pm Wednesday, November 15th, at 1207 2nd Street, Eden. The family welcomes friends and gifts of food and flowers at the home between Saturday, November 11th and Wednesday, November 15th.

Laura was born July 9, 1948, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Louis Kallam and Frances Redman Kallam. She was a member of Spray Baptist Church. Laura was a homemaker, raising and loving her family.

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Wayne Mayes; sister, Betty Turner; brother, Larry Kallam.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Libby Mayes (Tony Evans), Jason Mayes (Penny); grandchildren, Tanner Mayes, Taylor Gammons (Scott), Kelsey Henning (Tristan); great-grandchild, Marcus Henning; brothers, Jimmy Kallam (Betty), Doug Kallam, Donnie Kallam (Linda), Jerry Kallam (Fran); sisters, Barbara Bryant (Herman), Vickie Ellington (Doug); numerous nieces and nephews.
