Klyce Hampton Chandler

Klyce Hampton Chandler, 99, of 805 Washington Street, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 27, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawson Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Chandler was born October 28, 1911, daughter of the late William Walter and Mae Carter Hampton. She was very active in her community having been a member of the History Club of Leaksville, DAR (Daughter's of the American Revolution), Eden Preservation Society, several local bridge clubs and served as head of Lawson Cemetery for many years. She was a member of Leaksville United Methodist Church and a graduate of Greensboro College. Mrs. Chandler was a retired English teacher for Leaksville High School. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Owen "Pete" Chandler; brothers, William "Billy" Walter Hampton, Jr.; J.H. Hampton and David Carter Hampton,; sister, Mae Hampton Fulcher. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawson Cemetery Funds, PO Box 5074, Eden, NC 27289.
