Kenneth Harter

Kenneth Harter, age 79 of 1134 Harris Street, Eden, formerly of Front Street, passed away on Monday February 22, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery. Kenneth was born January 7, 1931 in Rockingham County to the late John Garver Harter and Nellie Cox Harter. He served 27 years in the N.C. National Guard and attended Draper Christian Church and recently Smyrna Presbyterian Church. He retired after 30 years from the Eden City School System as Instructor of Automotive Technology, and was a retired volunteer fireman after 23 years, also a charter member of the Draper Y's Mens Club. Surviving are his wife; Burnie Ann Barton Harter of the home, son; Kenneth "Wayne" Harter of Orlando, Florida, sisters; Joy Outland of Eden, and Ozelle Francis of Vandalia, OH., step-daughters; Mea Overby and husband Ronnie of Eden, and Debra Prather and husband Gene of Raleigh. Kenneth was preceded in death by his former wife, Ann Hutson Harter and sister,Wilba Harry. Family will receive friends from 6 -8 pm on Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
