Kena Jo Sawyers

Kena Jo Sawyers, 54, of 411 Sherwood Court in Eden, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 17, at North Spray Christian Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at the church.

Kena was born March 8, 1963 in Kentucky, to the late Kenneth and Mildred Hutchcraft Will.  

She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Sawyers of the home;  three grandchildren, Aleigha, Treygan, and Trevor Upchurch;  brother, Mark Barnes of Kentucky;  special half-sister, Tracey Graham;  several other half-brothers and half-sisters along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stacey Sawyers.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Ken Davis, Dr. Lobo, and the entire lung transplant team of UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill (or in Kena's words, "Retreat Hill"),  for all their love and support.
