Jutta Ursula Shelton

Jutta Ursula Shelton, 85, of Huntersville, NC, passed away on November 29, 2023.

A service in celebration of Jutta's life will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, 2 pm at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, NC. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery in Eden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born on December 3, 1937, in Lindenfels, Germany, to Julius and Marie Fischer. Jutta was a loving wife, mother, Oma, and great Oma. She never met a stranger and was known for her warm and welcoming nature. Jutta took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Jutta spent most of her career as an executive secretary, retiring from Vanier Graphics in Eden, NC. She graduated from Business College in Germany, showcasing her dedication to her education and professional development.

Jutta was a proud US citizen, having immigrated to the country as a young wife. She cherished her new country and embraced its values. She loved to swim and considered her in-ground pool a prized possession. Jutta spent countless hours swimming with her friends and even taught her grandchildren how to swim.

In her free time, Jutta enjoyed traveling and dancing, finding joy in exploring new places and expressing herself through movement. She found solace and community at the Church of the Brethren in Eden, NC, where she worshipped.

Jutta is survived by her son, Richard Spangler (Mary), her daughter, Beate Player (Skip Cope), her grandchildren, Jessica Player, Victoria Gadberry, Katherine Spangler, and her great-grandchildren, Haven and Jakob Fox, Lily and Ben Gadberry. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Germany. Jutta was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and her husbands, Albert Spangler and Douglas Shelton.

Contributions in Jutta's memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a cause that was close to her heart.
