Joyce Payne Hartwell

Joyce Marion Payne Hartwell, age 91 of Eden, NC passed away at her home Saturday evening, May 17, 2025. A Celebration Of Life Gathering will be held by the family at a later date.

Joyce was born in Merkel, Texas on October 28, 1933 to the late John Richard Payne and Juanita Shouse Payne. While living in Texas she worked at a local VA Hospital in the transcription department. She also volunteered at Morehead Memorial Hospital now known as UNC Rockingham in Eden in record keeping and had a love for flowers.

Surviving her are her granddaughters Laura Hartwell and fiance Joseph Greer of Eden, NC, Jessica Stansberry and husband Kelly of Pelham, NC, daughter-in-law Carolyn Hartwell of Eden, NC, great grandchildren Sydney Stansberry and Emily Stansberry both of Pelham, NC, Brooke Greer of Eden, NC and Hannah Parker of Pelham, NC. Preceding her in death along with her Parents are her husband Thomas Jo "Buddy" Hartwell, her son Larry Hartwell and her siblings Bill, Alma and Mike.
