Joseph Scales, III

Joseph Scales III, 87, passed away Friday, August 8th at his home in Ridgeway, VA.

There will be no formal service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Joseph was born April 26, 1938 to the late Joseph Scales, Jr and Betty Taylor Scales in Charleston, West Virginia. He was enlisted in the US Navy from 1958 to1962. Joseph was an engineer with EFI. Joseph was an avid model train collector and gun enthusiast. He was a former member of the World Wide Single Action Shooting Society and several train clubs across the US.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lunsford Scales; sons, Joseph L. Scales (Christiana) of Redmond, WA, William D. Scales (Roya) of Sylva, NC, Thomas R. Scales (Rosemary) of Ridgeway, VA; stepson, Jay Overacre (Erica); grandchildren, Josh, Joseph, Everett, Bella, Sarah, Liam; four great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Scales Garner of Ridgeway, VA
