Joseph "Reid" Stone

October 26, 1989 — April 23, 2023

It is with sadden hearts to announce the passing of Joseph “Reid” Stone age 33, of Cascade, VA. Reid was born on October 26, 1989 in Greensboro, NC to Chuck and Teresa Odell Stone. After a long time of suffering Reid lost his battle to mental illness on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

The family chose to have a private burial at Overlook Cemetery in Eden, NC on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Reid’s work boots filled with daisies along with his work gloves and ATV tools lined the top of his casket. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Reid’s life.

Reid graduated Morehead High School in 2009. He was a simple yet hardworking man. His work boots were heavy and so was his heart. Reid enjoyed riding and working on his four wheelers. He also enjoyed working alongside his dad on their family farm, grilling out, spending time with his family and caring for his beloved dogs, Grazo and Bailey. Reid had the unique ability to make everyone smile, laugh and feel at ease. Reid loved his parents and loved and adored his little sister, Mary-Katherine. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   He attended Sandy Shores Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents Chuck and Teresa Odell Stone of the home; and sister Mary-Katherine Stone of the home; paternal grandfather, James C. Stone Sr., of Martinsville, VA; maternal grandfather, Raymond Watkins (Barbara) of Reidsville, NC; uncle Scott Stone of Martinsville, VA; aunts Lesa Vinson (Wally) of Greensboro, NC, Vickie Odell of Greensboro, NC and Sue “Poozie” Stone of Martinsville, VA. In addition to several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his brother Chase Martin Stone, paternal grandmother Cevera Martin Stone, maternal grandmother Annie Mae Fain Watkins, uncle James C. Stone Jr., and aunt Tami Carter Stone.
