Joseph Houston (Raymond) Robertson, age 89 of 6861 US Hwy 220 Business, passed away early Saturday morning, May 11, 2013 at his home. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Monday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, with burial and military rites performed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard at White's Chapel Baptist Church in Ridgeway, VA.
Mr. Robertson was born August 1, 1923 in Sandy Ridge to the late James Harvey Robertson and Jessie Sapp Robertson. He was a WWII Army veteran where he served in the South Pacific and became a member of the VFW after the war. He was a retired farmer and former owner and operator of Robertson's Grocery and Robertson's Furniture.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was his wife, who recently passed away, Dora Joyce Robertson; sisters, Violet Martin, Katherine Wilkins and Queenie Herring.
Surviving are daughters, Kathy Brown and husband Ed of Stoneville and Peggy Robertson of Greensboro; son, Mark Robertson and wife Tammy of Stoneville; grandchildren, Rebecca Brown and Nathan Brown of Stoneville; great grandson, Blake Brown of Stoneville.
The family would like to express a special thanks to caregivers Kim Amburn, Kathy Lucas and Karen Moffitt, and also to Hospice of Rockingham County.
Family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home from 6 til 8 Sunday.
