Johnny Jackson Evans

March 21, 1945 — August 26, 2018

Johnny Jackson Evans, 73, of 403 C & N Smith Mill Road in Stoneville, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 30, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Evans Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 390 C & N Smith Mill Road.

Johnny loved spending time with his family, friends and especially all those grandchildren.  He loved teaching them all types of ways to make things work.  They would say "If it breaks, then my Pa can fix it." and we all knew he could.

He was owner and operator of JJ Evans Trucking Company for over 40 years.  He was known as a man with a loving and tender spirit and he enjoyed sharing his gift of laughter everywhere he would travel, from Florida to Maine.  Johnny taught his son and grandsons all the tricks of the trade for they are also owner operators of their trucks and are following in "Pa's" foot steps.  His grandson, Michael, is driving his truck still today.  After his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and delegating jobs to whomever came by the house during the day.  He enjoyed going places with his sisters and making sure his wife had "ice ice baby"  and grape drinks everyday after dialysis.  Oh yes, and giving his daughter and granddaughter ice cream money every week when they were younger.

Oh my what a time he is having today with all the loved ones that have gone on before and rejoicing around God's throne.  Oh!  Yes, we will miss him, but we will see him again.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jones Evans of Stoneville;  daughter, Dawn Hilburn (Robert);  son, John Jackson Evans (Lisa) of Stoneville;  grandchildren, Michael Jack Evans (Kayla), Brandon Chad Evans (Lindsey), Jacey Evans Carter (Chris), Staff Sargeant Joseph Carter (Christina), Matt Carter (Kailey);  great-grandchildren, Brantley Evans, Paisley Carter, Jackson David Evans, Leah & Lilly Hutchens, Kaylee & Annabella Carter, and Collin Carter;  sisters, Geneva Priddy and Nancy Coleman, both of Stoneville;  brothers, Frank J. Evans (Gail) of Stoneville and Charles Evans (Jody) of Eden;  and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  his brothers, Clyde and Clarence Evans; and niece Tonia Evans Mora.
