John “Jack” Jackson Evans, 57, passed away Saturday, June 28th at his home in Stoneville, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 2:00pm at The Friendly Worship Center, in Ridgeway, VA. A visitation will be held also at the church on Tuesday, July 1st, from 5:00-7:00pm. Burial will follow the service at the Evans Family Cemetery. At other times a visitation will be at the home of his sister, Dawn, at 140 Rock Hollow Drive, Stoneville, NC.
Jack was born January 31, 1968 to the late Johnny Evans and Barbara Jones Evans in Rockingham County. He enjoyed fellowship and worship at FWC where he had been a member for three years. Jack loved helping people and making them laugh. He traveled from the mountains to the coast with his daughter and took many vacations with Robert and Dawn. Jack loved giving the directions and knew all the best places to eat. He was the owner and operator of J.J. Evans Transport. He was the 3rd generation Evans truck driver and began his career at 17 years old. He passed that passion on to his sons.
Jack is survived by his son’s Michael (Kayla) Evans, Chad Evans; daughter, Jacey Evans; grandchildren, Leah Hutchens, Lilly Hutchens, Brantley Evans, Paisley Carter, Jackson David Evans, Presley Hodges, Preston Hodges, River Evans; devoted sister, Dawn Hilburn and brother-in-law Robert He is also survived by his fur baby, Detroit.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Joe and Carlene Jones and paternal grandparents Roy and Lillian Evans; uncle Tommy Jones, cousin Tonia Lynn Mora.
