Joan Cassell Shields

Joan Cassell Shields, 69, of 1020 Virginia Street, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Shields was born March 22, 1942, daughter of the late Kyle and Edna Mae Cassell Hall. She was a former waitress for several of the area restaurants, to include Margre Restaurant, Reid's House, Joses, and Balise Restaurant. Surviving is her husband, William Shields of the home; sons, Bobby Shields and wife, Reda of Eden and Steven Shields, also of Eden; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Shields; brother, Harold Junior Hall of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Linda Cassell of Eden; cousin, Lucille Finney of Bassett, VA and other numerous cousins.
