Jimmy M. Shropshire, 70, of 122 Rickman Street in Eden, NC, went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 2pm and officiated by Rev. Larry Grigsby at the Fair Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Ridgeview Cemetery in Eden. Jimmy was born to Gordon and Ruby Shropshire on October 16, 1941 in Stoneville, NC. He graduated from Stoneville High School in 1959 and was a longtime employee of Fieldcrest Mills. His fun-loving personality and generosity endeared him to many in the community. Jimmy was a faithful member of the Community Church of Eden and led a life of integrity that displayed his love of the Lord. Jimmy is survived by Meryle, his loving wife of 50 years. Those left behind to continue his legacy are his 4 children: Robin Boothe and husband Keith; Todd Shropshire and wife Jeanie; Kristi Moore and husband Matt; and Steven Shropshire and wife Amy. "Papa Jimmy" was adored by his 11 grandchildren and could often be found hanging out with them at their favorite spots around town. He will forever live in the hearts of Lynsey, Evan, Connor, and Isaac Boothe; Tyler, Sydney, Brandon, and Aiden Shropshire; and Matthew, Ali, and Carson Moore; brothers, Bill Shropshire and wife, Jean of Stoneville, Jerry Shropshire and wife, Gloria of Stoneville; and sisters, Betty Merritt and husband, Barney of Stoneville, and Nancy Patterson and husband, Lester of Stoneville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Shropshire, Shirley Wyrick, Jack Shropshire and Lou Patterson.
