Jewell Inez Shaw Davidson, 97, of Eden NC passed away at her home on Thursday, April 17, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday April 22, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Eden, with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden, NC. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church.
A native of Randolph County, Jewell was born to the late Grady William Shaw and Nora Callicut Shaw on November 18, 1927. She married James Causey Davidson in 1949 and moved to Leaksville, NC where they shared 67 years together. During her early married years, Jewell worked as an Executive Secretary at Spray Cotton Mills, a Legal Secretary at a local law firm. Jewell also worked in the family-owned business, Leaksville Hardware. Jewell’s strong faith, love and dedication to her church, First Baptist of Eden were of great importance to her. She was very active and served in many capacities from Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, Women’s Missionary Union Leader and chair member. She was also an active member of Out-Our-Way Garden Club and several women’s bridge groups. Jewell was a loving, selfless mother to her two daughters, Lynnette and Lori. She always put other’s needs ahead of her own as she shared her talents of cooking, sewing and gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Davidson Jones (Tim); grand-daughters Hillary Ash (John) and Natalie Kohn (Lennox); great-grandchildren, Annie Ash and Reid Ash all of Charlotte, NC. In addition to her parents Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Davidson, daughter Lynnette Shaw Davidson; brothers, Harold Shaw, and Herman Shaw; sister, Lois Ledwell.
The family would like to express our gratitude to several caregivers for the eight plus years of care-Concetta Ann Brown, Angela Hairston and Debbie Hagwood. Sincere appreciation also to Gail Olverson, Margaret Blackstock, Faye Allen, Wynona Breedlove and Geraldine Neal for their years of care also. We want to thank the staff and nurses of Ancora Compassionate Care of Rockingham County.
