Jerry Wayne Pulliam, 76, of Eden, North Carolina, went to his heavenly home on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He lived a life defined by service, quiet strength, and love. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and respected career with the Eden Police Department. Known for his integrity and compassion, Jerry was a steady presence in his community and a source of strength to those around him.
Before retiring, Jerry shared his love of sports and mentorship by coaching girls’ basketball at Morehead High School, where he inspired young athletes with his patience, encouragement, and leadership. After his time in law enforcement, he continued working at Thomas, delivering school buses with the same reliability and care that marked his entire life.
Jerry was a devoted member of First Wesleyan Church in Eden for over fifty years, where he loved to sing as part of the choir, faith and fellowship were a guiding light throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Pulliam, who was his devoted caregiver throughout his illness; his daughters, Wendy Pulliam and Kelly Johnson; and his son-in-law, Bobby Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to Dylan Smith, Kensie Smith, Bentley Johnson, Beckham Johnson, and Brady Johnson, and a cherished great-grandfather to Riley Siddle and Charlotte Vance. The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver, Logan Wilkerson, whose compassion and dedication provided comfort and support throughout Jerry’s final days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lillie Pulliam and Joe Will Pulliam; his older brother, Roy Pulliam; and his sister, Joann Pulliam.
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his quiet courage, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
A viewing will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Fair Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First Wesleyan Church with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery.
