Jerry Barnes, 80, of Eden, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at First Assembly of God in Eden with Pastor Nathan Chapmon officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Fair Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on December 9, 1945, in Shiloh, North Carolina, to the late John Hanna Barnes and Margaret Edwards Barnes. He was a faithful member of First Assembly of God. Jerry attended Rockingham Community College, where he studied machining. He worked as a machinist and, alongside his brothers, owned and operated B & B Machine Shop for many years.
Jerry enjoyed spending time at flea markets and meeting people along the way. Above all else, he treasured time with his family. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Meadows Barnes, who faithfully cared for him and gave him the very best care throughout his illness; his children, Keith Barnes, Chris Barnes (Amy), Tammy Long (Ricky), and Todd Barnes (Jennifer); grandchildren, Rick (Heather), Dustin Long (Mallory), Jordan Barnes (Kelsey), Cody Barnes (Taylor), Tylon Hodges (Kaitlin), Hanna Bates (Cody), Jared Nelson, and Caley Nelson; great-grandchildren, Casyn, Colby, Gatlin, Bella, Holden, Hayden, Heidi, Hudson, Marley, Blu, Kyleigh, Addie, McKinley, Kayce, Rylee, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Jerry is also survived by his siblings, Elaine Ladd, Shorty Barnes, and Mack Barnes (Michelle); his aunts, Virginia Dean and Janice Pulliam; and numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Melody and Mandy.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Copelin Bates; sisters, Jeanette Barnes, Carolyn Barnes, and Brenda Barnes; brothers, Steve Barnes, Bo Barnes, Donald Barnes, and Anthony Barnes; and his first wife and the mother of Keith and Chris, Janice Brammer Barnes.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to AuthoraCare for the compassionate care and support they provided during Jerry's long battle with chronic illnesses.
Jerry's legacy of faith, hard work, devotion to family, and kindness to others will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
