Jeanetta Alberlene "Abbie" Manley Thomas

Jeanetta Alberlene ( Abbie ) Manley Thomas, 92,of Eden went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday,May 29, 2018 at UNC Rockingham Rehab & Nursing Center,formerly of 115 Moir Street Eden. She was surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, June 2, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (3 - 4 PM) at Fair Funeral Home.

Abbie was born December 25, 1925 in Leaksville, NC to the late Albert L. and Eva Collins Manley. She was born the youngest of three daughters. In 1943 she graduated from Leaksville High School. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills. Abbie was the wife of Gabriel Franklin Thomas who died in 2004. Abbie was a recent member of Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church and Life Long Member Of First Pentecostal Holiness Church On Moir St. Eden.

In her earlier years she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, cooking, shopping, decorating, gardening and traveling with her husband Gabe and their family and friends. Abbie and Gabe always shared what was grown from their garden.Later years she'd visit her family and friends in Nursing, Assisted Living and Retirement Homes. She always looked forward to going to the Widows Club.

She is survived by son, Floyd ( Joanie ) Thomas Of Eden. Her daughters, Cindy Thomas Of Walkertown, Ann ( Jim ) Barrington, Sheila ( Pete ) Simpson Of Eden. Nephews Buddy ( Betty ) Grohs Of Eden, Phil Grohs Of Winston Salem. Grandchildren Angela ( Clint ) Simpson, Loticia ( Dwayne ) Woods, Mick ( Wendy) Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Ty Thomas; Eleven Great-grandchildren; Special Friends, Jeanie and David Hale, Brenda and Bill Poteat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel Franklin Thomas; son, Anthony ( Blaine ) Korcel; sisters, Lucille ( Carl ) Grohs; Dot ( Dewey) Ferguson; nephew, Michael Grohs.

The family would like to thank Dr. Daniels,Dr. Sasser, UNC Rockingham Rehab & Nursing Care Center,UNC Rockingham Hospital, Forsyth Medical  Staff for being there for Abbie and our family.
