Jean Gravely Rawlins Duling of 208 Taft Street in Eden, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2014, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 8, at Immanuel Friends Church. Burial will follow in Lawson Cemetery.
Mrs. Duling was born in Leaksville, NC, to the late Maurice Guerrant Rawlins, Sr. and Lily Eanes Rawlins. She graduated from Tri-City High School, Class of 1954 and began employment with Fieldcrest Mills. Jean moved to Washington, DC and was employed by the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations. She later moved to London England and was with the US Embassy in London, England. Jean received her Bachelor Degree from UNC at Greensboro and attended graduate studies at Univerisity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She retired as a social worker with Rockingham County Child Protective Services. Jean loved horses from childhood and realized a dream of showing horses in competition. Her love of her friends and her dependability never wavered.
She is survived by her son, David Rawlins Duling and wife, Cheryl Atkins Duling; grandson, Walker Rawlins Duling; and two granddaughters, Emma Gray Duling and Lily Eanes Duling, all of Durham; loving partner, Eddie Tuck, Sr.; and her loving friends, Dot Evans, Carolyn Evans, Kay Brooks, Joanne Wright, and Debra Seavers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and friend, Clyde Vernon Duling, Jr.; and her brother, Maurice Guerrant Rawlins, Jr.
The family will receive friends Tueday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
