Janice Smith Perdue

January 19, 1947 — November 23, 2020

Janice Smith Perdue, 73, of Eden, passed away Monday afternoon, November 23, 2020 at Brian Center Nursing and Rehab Center in Eden.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 27, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  Janice will lie in repose at Fair Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon from 12 Noon to 6 pm for those that wish to come by to pay their respects and sign the register.  The family will receive friends at the home, 293 E. Aiken Road, Eden, NC.

Janice was born in Houghton, New York on January 19, 1947 to the late Reverend Cecil Bernard Smith and Clara Black Smith.  She grew up in several places due to her father being a Wesleyan minister. Janice worked for Fieldcrest Blanket Finishing Mill until they left Eden.  Afterwards, she went to work for Unifi until becoming disabled.  She enjoyed serving the Lord and especially enjoyed her days attending the nursery at Eden First Wesleyan Church.  Janice loved the babies. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Eden.

She is survived by her husband of, over, 26 years, Paul Perdue of the home; her daughters, Kim Haney of Greensboro and Jan Johnson (Joey) of Eden; sons, Jimmy Hodges (Jessica) of High Point and Joe Hodges of Jamestown; step-son, Eddie Perdue (Darlene) of Eden; step-daughter, Bridget Gann (Marty); five grandchildren, Jessica Blowers, Haley Hodges, James Hodges, Reid Hodges, and Allie Hodges; step-grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan, and Tyler Perdue as well as, Austin Creasy, Nathan Laws and Brianna Perdue; two great-granddaughters, Madison Blowers and MacKenzie Bondurant; and sister, Lib Roberson of Eden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil Bernard Smith, Jr. and Philip Smith; sister, Charlotte Efrid; and grandson, Joseph Todd Johnson, Jr.
