James Seward Wilson

James Seward Wilson, 78 of Eden, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at UNC Health Rockingham.

Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing he is no longer suffering and is now sheltered in the arms of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. His wish for everyone he knew and loved was that each one of them would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and he would see them again in Heaven.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Overlook Cemetery. Anyone who would like to visit with the family after the service is welcome to come to their home.

Jim attended Central Baptist Church. A very special thanks goes out to Cheryl Porter and Alain Cashwell for inviting Jim and his wife, Lynne, to attend services there. He was so thankful and blessed to have met Pastor Greg and his wife Carla and the entire church family. He spoke often of the support and love they felt from everyone.

After attending high school at Morehead in Eden, he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served for 3 years, which included deployment to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He later attended Rockingham Community College where he earned a degree in Textile Technology and Management. He worked for several textile companies before going to work in management positions in the plastic industry at Zarn where he worked for 20+ years. He then accepted a management position at AFG where he worked until retirement.

Jim was a loyal fan of the UNC Tar Heels and the L.A. Dodgers.

Jim gave generously of his time, attention, and love to his wife Lynne, his sons, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He made sure they were well taken care of and that they felt his love and support. In addition, he loved and considered his wife’s family as his own.

We would like to thank Dr. Bhutani, Tiffany, and the staff at Danita for their care of Jim over the past years. Also, thanks to the ER staff, ICU staff, and admitting P.A. Hagan at UNC Health Rockingham for their patience, understanding, and excellent care of Jim and the family while navigating through this difficult time.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Mark Wilson, his parents, Sherman Allen Wilson and Lillie Barker Wilson, brothers, Robert, Dean, Sherman, and his sister, Mildred, his loyal pets Sophie, Gabby, Sam, and Riley.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lynne Reynolds Wilson, his son Jon (Stephanie), grandchildren, Kaleb, Kasey (Jacob), Haley (Brian), Thomas (Lauryn), Dustin (Rachel), Isaac (Sydnie), Nic (Emily), great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ivy, Aurora, Haywood, Lotus, Luna, and Jasper, special nephew, Rick Wilson and wife Tina and their entire family, and several nieces and nephews.
