James Wilford “Tom Dooley” Cochran Jr., 62, of Eden, N.C. passed away Monday, June 28 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at Fair Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Tom Dooley was born on February 13, 1959 in Leaksville, N.C. He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a member of the sign crew. Dooley enjoyed watching NASCAR and especially loved Hendricks Racing Team. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan as well.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Wilford Cochran Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Shelton Cochran and his mother, Mildred “Boodie” Martin Cochran. He is survived by his son, James Lawson; daughter, Shannon Cochran; and special step daughter, Melissa Walker. He is also survived by two sisters, Marcie Oldham; and Rose Black. Also surviving are his three nieces, Dee Dee Boyd; Brandy Cochran and Lei Harvey; four grand children, four step grand children, two great nephews, one great niece, a special great nephew, Levi Jobe; and special cousin, Perry Davis.
