James "Jimmy" Leonard Shropshire

James “Jimmy” Leonard Shropshire, 68, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 13, at Thompsonville Baptist Church in Reidsville.  Preacher Tim Butcher and Mike Campbell will officiate.

Born January 15, 1953 in Leaksville, NC, Jimmy was the son of the late Leonard Greenwood and Ruth Shropshire Dattero.  He was a graduate of Morehead High School, Class of 1971.  He formerly worked for Kenco Electric.  Jimmy was a member of Thompsonville Baptist Church.  He was an avid UNC-CH basketball fan and loved fishing, hunting and collecting model cars.  In his earlier years he played and coached men’s softball and coached the women’s teams as well.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mira Shelton Shropshire of the home; son, Ryan Shropshire and wife, Jessica of Savannah, GA; daughters, Tamara Hairston and husband, Chris of Reidsville; son, Derek Vernon and wife, Renee of Stoneville; four grandchildren, Hayley Porter, Jaiden Shropshire, Layton Shropshire and Kennedy Hairston; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Cochran, Bradon Barley, Jr., Ivy Cochran, Dixie Stidam, Havana Hylton, Chevelle Foley and Harper Ivy; sisters, Mary Board and husband, Scott of Liberty and Laura Greenwood of Richmond, VA; and special friends, Draper buddies, Steve Baker, Donna McBride London and Catman Mike Rorrer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bland and Ethel Shropshire.
