James "J. T." Thomas Darby

James Thomas “J. T.” Darby, 83, passed away Sunday morning, April 25, 2021, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 28th, at Friendly Worship Center in Ridgeway, VA.  Burial will follow in the O’Dell Family Cemetery in Ridgeway.  He will lie in repose on Tuesday afternoon, 12 Noon to 5 PM, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, for those wishing to come by to pay their respects.

Born July 31, 1937 in Patrick County, Virginia, J. T was the son of the late Luther Claude Darby and Penice Patterson Darby.  He was a US Army veteran and attended Friendly Worship Center in Ridgeway, VA.  He was a retiree of Martinsville Novelty Company.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glenda Marie O’Dell Darby of the home; sons, James “Ken” Darby (Margie) of Evington, VA and Rickey Lee Darby of Ridgeway; daughter, Deloris “Dee” Carter (Terry) of Eden, NC; two grandchildren, Terry Tyler Carter and Tracie Laine Carter; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Michelle Carter, Traidon Lee Washburn and Nicholas Ryland Carter; step-great-grandchild, Selena Isabella Charez; and brother, Ernest Clyde Darby (Dixie) of Martinsville, VA.
