James Douglas Horsley, 86 of Eden, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, March 12, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from Noon – 1pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.
James was born July 11, 1938 in Draper, NC, to the late Leonard Rufus Horsley and Mamie Sawyers Horsley. James owned and operated D&H Contractors, Inc., an asbestos abatement company. James loved oldies music and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan. When he was able and active, he would swim at the YMCA three times a week and enjoyed parasailing. He loved God, family, and Fellowship Baptist Church of which he was a member. He was a very compassionate, loving, and caring person. He was the friend everyone would want to have.
Surviving are his loving wife, Lois Keaton Horsley of the home; daughter, Lynn Fishel (Steve) of Elon; brother, J.W. Horsley (Frances) of Eden; grandchildren, Christina Lynn Urban, Justin Thomas VonGarlem (Lindsey), Nichole Wehberg, Stephen Douglas Horsley, II (Danielle), Amanda Lynn Jones ; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Cooper, Savannah, Wednesday, Cameron, Cora; sisters-in-law, Debbie Barker of High Point, Esther Hedgepeth (Mark) of Stuart, VA, Patsy Horsley of Eden.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Douglas Horsley; sisters, Norma McBryde, Edith Hill, Alice Mimms, and Mary Ann Hesselton; brother, Ronnie Horsley; mother-in-law, Annie Bradsher.
