James Eural ?��Ǩ?�Jimmy?��Ǩ�� Wood, Jr., 69, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston Salem, NC on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 after battling a short illness with cancer. He was born on April 29, 1946 in Eden, North Carolina to the late James Eural Wood, Sr. and the late Mildred Martin Wood. James was of the Baptist faith and attended Reed Island Springs Baptist Church. After graduating from John Motley Morehead, he married his high school sweetheart, Gerry Law Wood. After 33 years of service, James retired from DuPont of Martinsville, VA. He was known for being a master carpenter that enjoyed house building, home remodeling and construction. James was also an avid deer hunter and enjoyed working in his garden. James was a loving husband, father and grandfather that loved his family very deeply. His smile and tough love will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Left to cherish his memory, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Martha ?��Ǩ?�Gerry?��Ǩ�� Wood of the home; sons, Michael ?��Ǩ?�Mike ?��Ǩ?� James Wood and wife, Amy of Meadows of Dan, VA and Jonathan ?��Ǩ?�Jon?��Ǩ�� Ray Wood of Reidsville, NC; three grandsons, Nathan, Ryan, and Eli Wood all of Meadows of Dan, VA; brothers, Terry Wood and wife, Shelia of Stoneville, NC and David Wood and wife, Kim of Eden, NC; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. Surviving also are his special ?��Ǩ?�brothers?��Ǩ��, Earl Sexton of Eden, NC and Harold Comer of White Oaks, NC.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland McCraw officiating. A formal visitation will be held from 7-9 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home, Meadows of Dan, VA. Interment will follow the service in Ridgeview Cemetery in Eden, NC.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses of Wake Forest Medical Center for all the care they gave James during his sickness and a special thank you to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston Salem, NC for the compassion and care they showed James during his stay.
